ASSAM TEA
This group was inspired by the importance of tea in Indian culture. The elements of the garments and looks were adapted from the clothing worn by the workers on the tea plantations in Assam, India and modernized. The surface manipulation of embroidery visually resembles the terracing in the fields. All colors were achieved with natural dyes. The rich magenta was derived from red cabbage with lemon juice, the light blue with red cabbage and salt, the fresh green with mint leaves and the tans with brown tea.
JAPANESE PACKAGING
This collection was inspired by the art of traditional Japanese packaging and Oka Hiyuzuki's book, How to Wrap Five Eggs. Designed to evoke Japanese aesthetics, garments visually reference the folding, twisting and wrapping used in traditional Japanese packaging. The collection was conceptually inspired by this tradition by embracing the importance of presentation, as clothing is the way in which we package and present ourselves.
